Lara Elesia Richards
Joimove Babies Trainee
My name is Lara. Originally from the UK. I moved to Madrid, Spain in 2008 for what should have been a year and I am still here. I am a qualified Secondary school, physical education teacher and have worked as a teacher for the past 10 years. I have always been active and competed in track and field at national level until I was pregnant. After having my daughter I longed to get active and train myself back to fitness. Other than walking and jogging and doing exercise out in the open I didn’t have anywhere to go where I could train and get fit with other mums, and be with my baby at the same time.
I tried to train with my old track group, parked my daughter up in her pram at the finish line, but I just felt awful, worried and judged for leaving her there even though I was close by. I left feeling like a cold, uncaring, bad mother and never returned to the track. A couple of months later I lost my Job and decided to set up my own business and work for myself and be in charge of my own destiny.
I retrained and refreshed previous studies and opened my own boutique studio called Mamffit. It is a place where mothers can come and relax and do something for themselves with the support of myself and other women. Life as a new mum or even a single mum can be tough and a time when you need reassurance and support the most.
From the studio I run a range of physical activities for mothers, babies and children. One of those activities is going to be Joimove Babies babywearing dance program. I am always looking for different activities to offer my clients and what better activity to do than to dance and to share positive energy with other parents and your baby! No matter what activity my clients are doing they always leave the studio feeling energised, happier and reassured. And me too!!
